Charles P. Sammarone was born in Youngstown, Ohio and graduated from The Rayen High School. After graduation Mr. Sammarone went on to earn his BS degree in Education from Youngstown State University and a Master of Science in Administration from Westminster College. For over 30 years, Mr. Sammarone held various positions within the Youngstown City School system as a Teacher, Coach, and Administrator.

From January 1984-1990, Mr. Sammarone served as Fifth Ward Councilman for the City of Youngstown. He then became Youngstown City Council President in 1990. He served as President until 2002 before going on to work as the City's Water Commissioner. Mr. Sammarone is currently serving as City Council President after being reelected in 2006, making his total time served in the role of Council President 14 years.

President Sammarone enjoys being involved in community affairs and participating and attending sporting events and social functions. He is a member of the Curbstone Coaches, Youngtown Athletic club of the Y.M.C.A., Rayen High School Boosters, Chaney Grid Iron Club, Chaney Sports Hall of Fame, Italian Fest Committee and the Penguin Club.

President Sammarone has resided in the county for 65 years. He is married to the former Mary Ann Rango and they have two sons - Dr. Charles P. Sammarone Jr. and Atty. Christopher Sammarone. The Sammarone's have five beautiful grandchildren.
