Iris Torres Guglucello, Director of the Law Department, serves as legal counsel and advisor to all City departments, including the Mayor’s Office and Youngstown City Council. She handles labor and personnel matters for the 900 employees employed by the City of Youngstown. The Law Director is also responsible for general civil litigation and oversight of the City Prosecutor’s Office.
Prior to serving as Law Director for the City of Youngstown, Attorney Guglucello held the position of Deputy Law Director of the City from 2000 to 2004 and Assistant Law Director from 1998 to 2000. Attorney Guglucello has also served as Assistant Mahoning County Prosecutor, Referee and Magistrate for Mahoning County Court of Common Pleas, Staff Attorney for U.A.W. G.M. Legal Services Plan and Assistant Mahoning County Prosecutor for Juvenile Court. Attorney Guglucello has worked in private general practice primarily handling wills, estates, individual bankruptcies (7 and 13), simple real estate transactions, domestic relations and appellate brief writing.
Attorney Guglucello earned her Juris Doctor in May of 1982 from Akron School of Law in Akron, Ohio. She also holds Bachelors Degree in English and Spanish from Youngstown State University, graduating in August of 1973. Attorney Guglucello attended East High School and graduated in 1968.
Attorney Guglucello was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. She has been happily married to her husband, Roger, since 1981. Attorney Guglucello has two stepdaughters, Gina and Jennifer, and two grandchildren, Jessica and Jonah. She has resided in the City of Youngstown since 1952.
John McNally, Law Director until December 31, 2004, ran for and won the votes of the citizens for the position of Mahoning County Commissioner to begin his new quest in January, 2005.
