The City of Youngstown fills vacant positions as they occur or draws from established eligibility lists of qualified applicants who have met the job requirements and passed applicable examinations.
Examination announcements are distributed to various local service agencies, various departments in the city, and are posted at the Youngstown Civil Service Commission Office. Announcements may also be posted in the Youngstown Vindicator Sunday Help Wanted Section, the YSU Jambar, and on the Ohio Means Jobs website.
Applications will be accepted at the Civil Service Commission Office, City Hall, 7th Floor, 26 S. Phelps Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44503. Applications will not be accepted via e-mail.
Applications will be accepted only during the application period specified on the examination announcement. Applications must be received at the Civil Service Commission Office by close of business (4:00 p.m.) on the final day of the application period.
If you are applying for more than one position, a separate application must be filed for each position.
Applicants are encouraged to submit resumes or other information that will assist in the review process, but such attachments are not required. Resumes are not accepted in lieu of applications.
The Civil Service Commission accepts applications for open positions only.
